Qur'an reading, audio & offline

Everything you need to read the Qur'an, listen to a translation verse by verse, and keep listening without a connection.

  1. 1

Open the Qur'an and pick a surah

Go to the Qur'an page and choose a surah from the list. Tap any verse to open it; the verse you were last on is remembered so you can pick up where you stopped.

  2. 2

    Choose your translation language

Use the language selector at the top of the Qur'an page. Translations are available in more than thirty languages, each credited to its published translator.

  3. 3

    Look for the speaker symbol

A speaker symbol next to a translation means that language has complete verse-by-verse audio. Languages without the symbol can still be read, but their narration is not finished yet.

  4. 4

    Play the audio

Tap play on a verse to start listening. Playback continues verse to verse and surah to surah on its own, and the verse being read scrolls into view as it plays.

  5. 5

Keep listening with the screen off

Audio keeps playing when you lock the phone or switch apps. The surah and verse show on your lock screen, and the lock-screen play, pause and skip buttons control the app.

  6. 6

Save a surah for offline listening

Use the download option on a surah to store its audio on your device. Saved surahs play with no internet at all — including when you open the app cold with the connection off.

Good to know

  • The Arabic recitation streams from the internet; the saved offline audio covers translation narration you downloaded.
  • If a surah you saved earlier will not play offline, download it again — older saves used a different storage format.
  • Signing in keeps your bookmarks and reading position in step across your phone, tablet and computer.
